Rub-a-dub-dub, three turtles in a tub.
And who do you think they be?
The Baby, The Fivie,
And the New Greenie makes three.

After the all the suds,
And new, clean duds,
The freshest bunch of turtles they will be.

Greenie Baths

Being a Greenie is messy business. We can get pretty dirty in all of our adventures, so sometimes we need a bath. Since we're plush turtles (see the post on the special species of turtle we are), our baths require a bit more effort than just a dunk in the tub. Our baths are kind of like bath-time and laundry day rolled into one.

A long time ago, when I was new to the world, I used to get dirty a lot. When my Mama was a kid, we would get into all kinds of messy things, so I got a bath in the washing machine and dried in the dryer. It was like a carousel gone crazy! It was loud and I would shake and spin all around inside the machine. It was fun, but I would come out feeling kind of woozy. It would be a while before I could walk in a straight line! Fortunately, things have changed, as we got a little older, and less fuzzy. Now our baths are more like spa treatments than thrill rides. That’s good because turtles deserve to be pampered!

Nowadays, we have our own special plastic tub where warm water and gentle-wash laundry suds await us. We relax in the water, soaking and sipping lemonade. Then it is time for a gentle, hand-washing massage. After that we are showered and rinsed in more warm water, then towel dried. It takes a while to dry out all the way. To speed the process, we get to lie on a mountain of towels in front of a fan. I really like this in the summer time! Sometimes I ask for cucumbers to go over my eyes. If it’s wintertime, we get blow-dried. The blow drier is noisy, but I like the feel of the warm air on my shell! Before long, I am all dry and sweet smelling! It’s good to be a Greenie.
